About Me

Hey out there!

Thanks for visiting my blog. I’m Kristen – fitness & nutrition fanatic and mommy of 1 on a mission to find easy but creative ways to stay in shape and continue a healthy lifestyle with a cup of coffee in one hand and a toddler in the other.

My fitness journey started at 12 years old with none other than a Cindy Crawford DVD! Since then I’ve absorbed all I can about nutrition and exercise, quit smoking (2001), completed 4 marathons (Twin Cities, Dublin, Barcelona, Crazy Horse), spent a couple of years personal training and made endless mistakes when it comes these topics (after being dumped at 19, I lived on diet pop for a week)!

I’ve created this blog because I simply want to show you that you can have your bread, enjoy your chocolate, drink your wine, skip a couple of workouts and still have a healthy, fit body.

What I hope to prove is that you don’t need a gym membership to be fit. You don’t need a 90 minute sweat session to prove that you’ve worked out for the day. I am a true believer that something is better than nothing when it comes to fitness!

About my past: I grew up on a farm in South Dakota, lived in southern Spain for 4 years  where I met and married my hubby in 2009 and we had our daughter “little bug,” in June 2010. July 2011 we packed our life into 10 boxes and moved to the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Thanks again for coming to my blog! Enjoy and leave lots of comments!!

Yay! So excited for your blog!!! It is just what I need:) I don’t always have time for long 90 minute workouts from P90X with trying to work from home and have two little kiddos around!! I am also trying to train for my first half marathon in June. I am really excited about the quick and easy recipes…you should also include (if you want) some healthy snack recipes for little ones..just an idea!! I love that you have cheap in there too because trying to eat healthy can be expensive…even though I know the benefits it can still be a streatch!! Take care:)

    • Hey Amanda,
I’ll get some ideas started for kiddo recipes! My little one has no teeth…still, but I’ve already started brainstorming! Training for a 1/2 marathon is awesome. Which one are you doing? Once back in the US I’m going to do one in the Hills and hopefully work up to a marathon out there as well as my first post-baby marathon! Good luck with training! You’re such a great athlete, it shouldn’t take too much!

SUPER excited for this too, Kris. Already did my arm workouts ;) I love this! Everything that Amanda said, I agree with. I’m doing a half in May and it seems like when I get done running, the last thing I want to do is lift and tone. SOOOOOO this is PERFECT! Plus, Reeser doesn’t always give me a block of time to “workout” :) ! You look fabulous! Love ya!!!! Can’t wait to see you once you are back in the states!!!

PS…Not sure if you’ve heard of Arbonne, but I have been selling it for about 1 1/2 years and they have an all natural, vegan, delicious protein shake if you’re into protein shakes! Katie credits them for helping her power through her half. Check it out if you’re interested!

    • Thanks for the reply Emily! I have not heard of Arbonne, but I’m guessing that it’s sort of in the Herbalife cateogory? Herbalife was my savior on my lazy cooking days and pregnancy to stay really healthy, so I definitely know what Katie means! I’ll be highlighting how to use your “supplement powder” later on this week! Take care :)

I’m loving the blog Kristen! Your little Vienna looks like the perfect workout partner, and I can’t wait to see what else you come up with!
